KWEST was formed in the memory of Kevin Whitney, who lost his life at the age of 23 in a tragic drinking accident. The lives of those who knew and loved him were forever changed by his sudden and untimely death. Kevin was a loyal friend, an inspirational athlete and had a contagious enthusiasm for life. He was working hard to make a career of helping people. He finished EMT training and graduated from the Oxnard Regional Fire Academy near the top of his class. He was making plans for paramedic school when his life was cut short. KWEST wants to honor Kevin's spirit by helping others who share the goals Kevin set for himself, and we hope to prevent other young adults from losing their lives in the tragic way Kevin lost his.
